This all-grain recipe kit gives homebrewers the ingredients they need to craft a juicy New England Hazy IPA from scratch at home. Think of it as the softer, fruitier cousin of a traditional American IPA, with a pillowy mouthfeel, vibrant citrus aroma and huge late-hop character instead of assertive bitterness. Bursting with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and a touch of white grape, this recipe delivers the hazy, hop-forward style that has become a modern favourite.

Big on aroma. Built for juicy hops.

  • Juicy Hop Explosion: Citra, Amarillo and Nelson Sauvin deliver layers of citrus, tropical fruit and subtle white grape character.
  • Soft, Hazy Mouthfeel: Wheat malt, Carapils and Caragold combine to create the smooth, pillowy body that defines the style.
  • Late Hop & Dry Hop Focus: Whirlpool and double dry hopping maximise aroma while keeping bitterness smooth and balanced.
  • Classic New England IPA Style: Naturally hazy with expressive hop flavour and a silky finish.
  • A Rewarding Brew Day: Perfect for brewers wanting to explore one of today's most popular hop-forward styles.

Ingredients

  • 1.36kg Wheat Malt

  • 40g Acidulated Malt
  • 40g Dr Rudi Hops

  • 60g Amarillo Hops
  • 40g Nelson Sauvin Hops
  • 1 x Mangrove Jack's M66 Hophead Ale Yeast

Additional Ingredients (Not Included): Orange Zest

Method

  1. Add the malts to 17L of water at 68°C and mash in thoroughly.
  2. Rest the mash for 60 minutes.
  3. Raise mash temperature to 75°C & hold for 5 minutes to mash out.
  4. Sparge continuously with 12L of water at 75°C.
  5. Boil for 45 minutes.
  6. Add 40g of Dr Rudi hops with 45 minutes left in the boil.
  7. At the end of the boil, add 40g of Citra hops, 40g of Nelson Sauvin hops and the orange zest. Whirlpool by stirring or recirculating the wort for 30 minutes.
  8. Chill the wort and transfer to a clean, sanitised fermenter.
  9. Pitch 1 x Mangrove Jack's M66 Hophead Ale Yeast and ferment at 18–20°C.
  10. On Day 3, dry hop with 60g of Citra and 30g of Amarillo. Leave for 5–7 days.
  11. Remove the first dry hop charge, cold crash to approximately 5°C, then add the remaining 60g of Citra and 30g of Amarillo.
  12. Leave for a further 5 days.
  13. Remove the hops once fermentation is complete and the specific gravity has remained stable.
  14. Bottle or keg as usual.

Brew Tip: New England IPAs are sensitive to oxygen. Minimise splashing during dry hopping and packaging to help preserve the bright hop aroma, juicy flavour and signature hazy appearance.
